What will the treatment entail?

The initial treatment will begin with a consultation to help begin to establish the individual’s constitution and to identify any imbalance present.  Advice on nutrition and lifestyle will be given to aid the process of rebalancing.

There will be an opportunity to ask any questions and discuss any concerns before the treatment begins.

The treatment will include a full-body, hands, feet, head and face massage using natural plant-based medicated oils and creams chosen specifically to pacify any imbalance. Marma points throughout the body will be stimulated during the massage treatment to help unblock any congestion at each site.  The treatment continues with Chakra energy clearing followed by Pinda Sweda.  Pinda Sweda opens the pores and allows the body to absorb the medicated oils, it also helps to lubricate and soothe aching joints and muscles and encourages toxins to the skin’s surface allowing for natural elimination.

Depending on the condition, Vasti can be prepared in advance for people suffering from knee, lower back and shoulder problems, such as arthritis and sciatica.

What oils and creams are used?

Natural plant-based medicated oils and creams from Sri Lanka are used during the treatment and are created and chosen to pacify specific conditions.  A list of ingredients is available upon request.

Can I purchase the oils and creams?

Yes, you can order oils and creams for home use.  Please allow between 3 – 5 days for delivery.

What will the consultation involve?

The consultation will involve a brief introduction to the constitutions and their primary traits, followed by a series of questions from face shape to appetite with the aim of establishing the individual’s constitution over time and to identify any imbalance.  You will be given a recommended food list in line with your constitution and any imbalance.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

You will be asked to complete a registration form. It will be helpful to have your GP details and a list of any medications you are taking as well as knowledge of any allergies.

To get the full benefit of your treatment it is best to eat at least an hour beforehand, it is quite a long session, so it’s a good idea not to arrive hungry!

Please wear whatever you’re comfortable in. Plant-based oils are used and can sometimes transfer onto clothing, although generally, the oil does wash out.  Single-use underwear is provided (you are welcome to wear your own underwear but please be advised that, depending on the oil used,  it may become stained with the oil).  It’s best not to wear perfume, heavy aftershave, or strongly scented lotions that might interfere with the medicated oils.  Although not essential, ideally make-up and jewellery should also be removed prior to the treatment.

Will a single treatment be beneficial?

Yes!  As with most things, the more you invest in yourself the more beneficial the outcome. Ayurveda recommends daily massage when possible. In saying that, it doesn’t have to be a professional massage, self-massage is something that you can do on a regular basis, even if it’s a 2-minute foot massage before bed!

Do I need to tell my therapist about any medical conditions?

Yes, it is important for me to be fully aware of all your current medical conditions because in some cases, massage therapy is contraindicated.

Are Ayurvedic treatments suitable for children?

Yes.  All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and are invited to stay in the treatment room for the duration of the treatment.

What will happen after my treatment?

You will be given time to relax and ask any questions and/or share your feedback.  You will be sent a follow-up email outlining the information shared at the consultation.

Is there somewhere to park?

Large car park with plenty of free parking.
